Dana Shelley grew up dancing at Encore, then continued her dance education concentrating in performance/choreography and arts administration graduating Phi Beta Kappa from Goucher College. She performed works by choreographers such as Paul Taylor, Amy Marshall, Robert Moses, and Adrienne Clancy, along with performing in ballets including her favorite, Don Quixote. Dana completed John White’s Vaganova grades 1-6 teaching seminars at the Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet. She has learned a great deal from several local mentors including Nadine Revene, Chet Zercher and Carolyn Trythall. Dana danced with Opus 1 Contemporary Dance for six years and has been teaching for twenty!
I began bringing my daughter to Encore at age 3, looking for a class to help with balance and body awareness. We are now entering our 6th year and absolutely love this studio! They not only work to build a love for dance, but also to instill a sense of confidence, strength, and friendship in their students. We couldn’t be happier to be a part of the Encore family!
My daughter started dancing here when she was 3, she has loved it from the first day. The teachers are so encouraging, patient, kind, and just the absolute best. Dance has become a part of life. The teachers, kids and other parents have become family. We couldn’t imagine not dancing at Encore. In fact we have contemplated moving out of state and Encore has been the reason we have stayed. I couldn’t ask for a better atmosphere for my daughter to continue her dance education.
