Kristen Zimmerman began dancing at Encore at the age of 2.5. After graduating from Encore and Lancaster Catholic High School, she continued her education at Barry University in Miami, Florida where she graduated with honors receiving her degree in Elementary Education, with an ESOL Endorsement and a Minor in dance, with a focus on Latin and African dance. While in Miami, Kristen began her dance teaching career in a community outreach program for underprivileged youth. Kristen choreographed and performed in shows at the Jackie Gleason Theater as well as being the assistant producer/choreographer for her university’s musical of Pippin. Kristen has been teaching dance for 20 years, coached the Lancaster Catholic Dance Team for 10 years, has had many pieces of choreography in local shows.
What I love most about Encore is not only the exceptional dance foundation my daughter is receiving, but also the emphasis on building kind, confident, positive dancers and leaders. Alvina takes great care to ensure that her studio is a safe place for all dancers, and that the dancers care for and respect each other. Every teacher is professional and holds the dancer to high standards, while also encouraging fun and creativity. I also appreciate how studying dance has given my daughter strong core strength and flexibility, which is evident when she competes in other sports. We love being a part of the Encore family!
My daughter started dancing here when she was 3, she has loved it from the first day. The teachers are so encouraging, patient, kind, and just the absolute best. Dance has become a part of life. The teachers, kids and other parents have become family. We couldn’t imagine not dancing at Encore. In fact we have contemplated moving out of state and Encore has been the reason we have stayed. I couldn’t ask for a better atmosphere for my daughter to continue her dance education.
