Alvina Kline is the Artistic Director/Owner of Encore for the past 37 years. She fell in love with dance at the age of 4 and her love has never stopped growing. Alvina attended Kutztown University in 1981 and was a part of their dance troupe. She received her teaching certifications from Dance Educators of America and continues to further her dance education through seminars and workshops. Her goal for Encore is that it is a place where her dancers feel loved, safe but receive the best dance education/training possible.

Lyrical

Lyrical is an expressive form of dance that incorporates a fusion of ballet and jazz dance styles. Many times, this style tells a story through choreography and dance phrases inspired by the lyrics of the song being used. Dancers are encouraged to explore their emotions and movement through improvisation. A strong ballet and jazz foundation enhances the quality of movement.

Jazz

This fun class combines upbeat, stylized movement with proper technique. Jazz dance is based on ballet principals with each class consisting of a warm-up using isolated movements, across the floor progressions and current choreography all set to age appropriate music.

Ballet

In Ballet class, emphasis is placed on age appropriate training, terminology, classical form and training each individual dancer to reach their personal goals. Our ballet program begins with a movement vocabulary that caters to the young mind and body which is shown in our creative movement classes. Ballet at Encore is taught with a passion and love for classical ballet movement.

Pointe

With safe technique practices being a priority, our pointe program begins with the basics. Dancers will begin their pointe studies in our pre-pointe classes to allow for a focused study of very specific movement exercises. Focusing on core movement control and muscular strength throughout each dance season allows for each pointe dancer to build tools needed to succeed. Dancers are evaluated before moving to the next level to ensure the dancer is strong and technically ready to execute the movement.

Tap

One of the most traditional forms of dance using special shoes to create different rhythms, sounds and patterns. Emphasis is placed on precision, speed and clarity of sounds. Tap is great for developing musicality and coordination skills.

What I love most about Encore is not only the exceptional dance foundation my daughter is receiving, but also the emphasis on building kind, confident, positive dancers and leaders. Alvina takes great care to ensure that her studio is a safe place for all dancers, and that the dancers care for and respect each other. Every teacher is professional and holds the dancer to high standards, while also encouraging fun and creativity. I also appreciate how studying dance has given my daughter strong core strength and flexibility, which is evident when she competes in other sports. We love being a part of the Encore family!

Ruby Dhillon

Encore has been our daughter’s dance studio for the past 5 years. With the help of the caring staff at Encore we have watched her dance skills and confidence grow. The staff meets each child where they are and helps the dancers to better themselves both on and off the stage. The welcoming environment of Encore encourages relationships between the younger and older dancers, providing our daughter and many other young dancers with exceptional role models. Miss Alvina has worked hard to build this amazing studio and we consider ourselves lucky to have found such a great dance home for our daughter.
